The craftbank site seems to have been down now for at least a year, can't help but wonder if they've abandoned it.

Yikes. I thought RDT had a fairly good reputation for quality.

Nothing wrong with RDT or the taps you're just meant to replace them on a regular basis, my grandad replaced his taps every month or so on his dress/dancing shoes, cheaper than a resole and stops uneven wear.

You don't even need to replace the whole tap, just the washer will suffice.

yasss no knocking of rdt meant in my post. as 00 said, this is par for the course for taps. i actually am amazed they lasted this long with all my tiptoeing around my addiction to overpriced mij bro stuff!

here's what the rest of the shoes that look no different with age looks like at the moment, absoiutely nothing to complain about (no treatment except for occasional brushing, true burgundy colour under a bit of sunlight, looks much browner otherwise):

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. I know nothing about toe taps, so thanks for the education.

@hoggy maybe like many other japanese brotisans rdt has also migrated to instagram (thebootsshop). i just checked and they're pretty active there. still churning out ott ridiculous models (check out the "alpine ski" :D), so looks like business as usual in rdt land. shoot them your sizing sorrows on DM! :D

RDT are too busy to do much but make footwear atm, so google translate tells me. They will also send spare toe taps if you ask nicely. The long lost Duke M had back up taps.

Hey Ooms, sorry I missed your post. Didn't know that but yes it makes sense.

Ah, no longer in the market now for boots, I am hunting instead for the perfect trainer (sneaker, bro's). Wide, roomy anatomical toe box, inward medial swing, low heel ... oh hang on, this was me last year. I'm like a broken record.

Sorry Ooms, I don't care what anybody says.  You have definitely been mean to battle tanks and fire hydrants again.  I will forgive you but only because I always had a soft spot for footwear with a little kiltie attached.

(Nice colour, too, BTW)
