Who has had a re-sole done? Where did you have them done? Did you go with the same sole or something with more tread/traction??
Thanks,

John Lofgren recommended Georgio Sheklian at Sierra Shoe Repair in Fresno, CA. They're old friends, both recently relocated to Fresno to help out with their respective family businesses (John's helping out on the family farm, Georgio took over his father's shoe repair business). Georgio got the right machinery to do the proper logger heel shape on the Lofgren engineers and it's perfect. Really nice fella too.

Has anyone got any knowledge about sizing with Engineer Boots from Moto Leather (MOTOR)?

Motor 1st and 3rd Gen are in EE width and are indeed extra wide.  I wear 8EEE in White's and Motor 3rd gen 8.5, Lonewolf Engineer 8.5, so I think the Motor are pretty true to size.  Those are some of the best fitting boots for my wide feet.  2nd gen is D width which I have not tried on, so no idea but if your feet are D width, I doubt you will be comfortable in the 1st/3rd gen.

There's a pair on ebay on at the moment that I'm tempted to buy. Beautiful boots.

I think I've decided I should dip my feet into the world of Engineer boots.

I'm torn between the White's Nomad soft toe and the Wesco Boss Motor Patrol last also with soft toe.

heres whats goin on - I would like a black pair that is gonna have that brown fade in. I feel like that is a real integral feature for an engineer boot. So I'm thinking black tie domain for wesco or black cxl for White's ( possibly dress brown because I love that leather so much ).

My beef :

I don't like foam footbed inserts. Apparently both come with them but the White's don't necessarily need it according to a review I read, Like maybe the foam footbed is an afterthought or something. Insoles and the like are just hot and gross in my experience. I have to use them with my pecos boots and I hate it, So plus one for White's.

I think the MP boss looks better than the nomad out of the box. But the nomad looks like it can provide that nice flattened out toe look as time goes on, especially if ordered with soft toe. I've got history with White's, I like them, I've been there, I know my size. Wesco is new to me. So theres that too.

what do you guys think?

I think that the black tie domain is dyed black all the way through, so I don't think that you would get the brown coming through effect with that leather. Black CXL achieves that effect better than any other leather I've seen. If it were me I'd go with Brown Dress, I've yet to see a pair of engineers in that leather, and like you said it is an awesome leather.

If you go for the White's, perhaps consider sending in some of your own, flat buckles to replace their butterfly ones.

I'm going to back up what the Librarian said about the black tie leather. It is black all the way through, but from what I have seen, it's a nicer leather than cxl which is more dressy and less of a real boot leather imo.

However, I'd still go Wesco all day. The motor patrol toe is infinitely better looking than the Whites last. Not only that, but the general consensus is that Wesco exceeds Whites in quality, especially during the past few years.

Neil from Standard and Strange could answer pretty much any Wesco questions, but for me it would be a no brainier. The Wescos will be better made and better looking.

Wesco all the way. Better on ever measure.

thanks for the input everyone. I think I'd be sending in buckles for both companies.

what leather from wesco would provide that black/brown vibe like cxl? I didn't know that the domain leather was dyed all the way through. I've read on vintageengineerboots blog where hes recommended the fire black - but didn't specifically mention the wearing off of the black color.
